Each year, as part of its activities with sponsoring the PROPECIA® Rally of New Zealand, Merck Sharp & Dohme (NZ) Ltd run a competition for art and design students to come up with a unique design for a Subaru rally car.
As well as overseeing their design as it comes to life on a sign-written rally car and having it displayed at PROPECIA Rally events, the winner receives $2000 prize money and VIP passes to PROPECIA Rally events.
This year's winner is Jae Morrison, a design student at Auckland University of Technology. Jae is obviously very talented in this area of design, as he was also the winner last year. The judging process was conducted blindly, with no names or personal details identified, to eliminate any bias. It was Jae's entry however that was the clear favourite, meeting all the entry criteria and executed in an eye-catching and relevant way.
"We thought the colours, movement and design elements in Jae's entry best encapsulated the rally spirit and our own brand values," said Mike Taylor, PROPECIA Brand Manager.
Jae worked with the signwriters, Network Visuals in overseeing his design as it came to life on the latest model Subaru Impreza. The finished car was displayed in Auckland's Viaduct and during the PROPECIA Rally events from 10-13 April 2003.
